Hmmm....sad day in Red Wings history. I'm sitting here watching Steve Yzerman's press conference announcing his retirement. Lot's of good memories here. Here's a few web pages to check out the announcement:

He'll be sorely missed, I'm sure.
Stevie's been my favorite player for as long as I have been watching Red Wings hockey (most of my life). He was an amazing player, and as sad as I am to see him go, it has been expected that he would retire this year. I'm sure "The Captain" will remain my favorite hockey player for a long time.
Yeah, it seems kind of weird that he's gone. I was 9 when they drafted him. I don't think you're ever going to see a player like him again. At least not with the franchise loyalty. I guess I just hadn't realized how much a part of the Red Wings background he had really become. There hasn't been a time when I was following hockey that he hadn't been on the team. Ah well, time moves on.
If you haven't heard they're talking up Lidstrom for the Captain slot.
Jess- I was confused last time we talked. McCarty went to Calgary, not Edmonton. Duh....it's all Canada. Close enough, eh?
